Eurocom adds 'Arrandale' Intel i5 Core and i7 Core, nVidia GeForce GX 285M, Quadro FX 2800M and ATi Radeon Mobility HD5870
Eurocom, the world's leading developer of highly personalized, high-performance notebook PCs and LCD PCs, updates its Mobile Workstation notebook line-up to support Intel i3 Core, i5 Core and i7 Cores processors codenamed "Arrandale". As of present, all Eurocom models support both "Arrandale" Dual Core and "Clarksfield" Quad Core processors.
The new “Arrandale” processors are the first to feature the main processor, integrated graphics, and the memory controller on a single CPU package, with CPU die being manufactured using the new 32-nanometer process. This innovation promises to increase laptops’ computing performance while decreasing power consumption and heat.
Unlike recently released Core i7 “Clarksfield” 45nm quad-core products, the “Arrandale” Core i5, and Core i7 both have dual CPU cores.
The i5 and i7 mobile series incorporate TurboBoost technology that automatically allowing for processor overclocking providing that it is operating below power, current, and temperature limits. TurboBoost is not present in the Core i3 series.
Another technology for performance improvement is Hyper-Threading, allowing two parallel threads per CPU core. It’s available on all “Arrandale” units.
Clock speeds and power consumption (TDP) of the new processors range from 1.06GHz and 18W on an ultra-low voltage model to 2.66GHz (up to 3.33GHz w/TurboBoost) and 35W on the fastest full-voltage CPU. The cache size is 3MB on the Core i3 and Core i5, whereas the Core i7 “Arrandale” has 4MB.
Intel’s integrated graphics on the “Arrandale” Core chips is capable to deliver high-definition video playback and “mainstream and casual 3D gaming”, according to the manufacturer. The GPU operating frequencies vary, depending on processor model.
Eurocom offers the most complete line of notebooks supporting both Arrandale and Clarksfield processors for Mobile Workstations-class notebooks including 15.6-inch EUROCOM W860CU Cougar, 17.3-inch W870CU Cheetah and 18.4-inch EUROCOM X8100 Caliber with Intel PM55 chipset, DDR3-1333 Memory and powered by nVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 285M, Quadro FX 2800M or ATi Radeon Mobility HD5870 upgradeable MXM 3.0 Type B VGA technology.

Upgradeable Processor Technology
Driving the system is Intel Core i7 Mobile or Core i7 Extreme with up to8MB of L3 cache, which delivers exceptional high-def multimedia, multi-tasking and multi-threaded performance.
Intel's “Clarksfield” i7 Core Mobile processor is Nehalem-based 45nm chip and its part of Intel's Clarksfield contains 840 million transistors and will run at a power envelope of up 55W. That's somewhat higher than the chipmaker's mainstream thermal design power (TDP) of 35W, meaning that the extra performance will take its toll on battery life.
This high-performance CPU allows users to simultaneously run multiple applications at the same time -- all with increased performance. Performing tasks such as burning CDs, reading email messages, editing digital photos and listening to music all at the same time with no slow downs means a richer overall experience for the user.
Here is a list of processors supported in W860CU Cougar, W870CU Cheetah and X8100 XCaliber:

EUROCOM W860CU Cougar, W870CU Cheetah and X8100 XCaliber use next-generation, high speed, dynamic frequency DDR3-1333 or DDR3-1600 SO-DIMM for laptops that enables customers to make full use of the significantly reduced power consumption and increased bandwidth of DDR3.
This new-generation DDR3 SO-DIMM module for laptops uses the 8-bit pre-fetch design. As it is a double of the DDR2 modules, the clock frequency begins from 800MHz and can be increased to 1066MHz, 1333MHz and 1600MHz.
Thanks to the evolution in die processes of 75nm technology, DDR3 modules offer significant reduction in power consumption, by taking advantage of DDR3’s 1.5V power requirement, compared to 1.8V for it’s predecessor, DDR2. By incorporating additional optimizations, DDR3 SO-DIMMs reduce power consumption by more than 30 percent compared to today’s mainstream DDR2 modules depending on the nomination of SO-DIMMs used further extending battery life of our laptops. Finally, DDR3 SDRAM technology offers data transfer rates of up to 10.67GB/s @1333MHz. This doubles the maximum data transfer as compared to current DDR2 memory, which significantly boosts the performance of mobile PCs.
This DDR3-1333 SO-DIMM for laptops uses high-quality genuine die from original manufacturers packaged with the FBGA (Fine-Pitch Ball Grid Array) technology to deliver better cooling and electrical performances. The ODT (on-die-termination) can effectively ensure signal integrity by reducing signal feedback when the module is running at high speed.
With ASR (auto self-refresh) design, it intelligently reduces the refreshing frequency of memory modules thus effectively reduce the temperature and power consumption of the module to conserve energy.
